The Challenge
In 2015 Ollie and Neill Shurville were two brothers on a journey to make outdoor travelling easier for everyone. Cheaper than a caravan, comfier than a tent - they had found a niche and TentBox was born. Now, as the UK’s number one roof tent company with their sights firmly set on expansion into Europe and the US, the view couldn’t be better.
In 2020, the staycation was born and with it TentBox’s demand exploded. Like many their business growth was vast (no we aren’t going to tell you it was unprecedented) and the founders wanted it to continue. Based on the growth they had seen during Covid, the brothers set themselves massive sales targets for 2022. However, they needed the data to back these targets up as well as the strategic marketing plan in place to achieve them.
The Solution
Sales targets are essential, but when you aren’t using data driven solutions to achieve them, you’ll be unsure where to start. This is the exact reason we created our valuable piece of eCommerce consultancy, the Gross Demand Plan (GDP).
The GDP uses sales targets combined with all financial and marketing data to build a blueprint for growth. The numbers don’t lie. For TentBox, the GDP forecast realistic targets and how much money they needed to spend to get there.
Running in parallel to the GDP, we produced a marketing review of all of their channels and analytics. Using this, we were able to guide them on how to hit the targets set in the GDP using a media plan.
All of this data meant we could put into action a full funnel marketing strategy from awareness to conversion that we knew could actually produce results.
What else did this entail? Well, we were able to set up, run and report on all of TentBox’s paid media (both Facebook and Google ads). We also drew on Cake’s talented design team to create gorgeous and engaging assets for these channels which were optimised and set up for conversions.

The Outcome
TentBox now has data driven targets to reach for and a strategic marketing plan in place to achieve these.
Their numbers do the talking - over the period of June-August TentBox’s revenue on Meta Ads increased by a massive 200% and their ROAS by 23%! While on Google Ads their purchases were up 17% and their impressions 166%, sitting at nearly 8 million. Now those are some numbers we can get behind.
For Tentbox we took the guesswork out of growth and worked with them to achieve their goals and beyond.
