This Month in Slice...
A letter from our CEO
Hi all, Welcome back to the Slice.
It’s been an interesting month for eCommerce merchants. With promises of innovation from tech platforms like Klaviyo and Shopify, major supply chain disruption, Europe’s various fashion weeks, and more, it’s starting to feel like we’re stepping into a new era of eCommerce.
For us, we’ve been head down in projects. Putting the finishing touches on longstanding ones, kicking off entirely new ones, and even finding some time to work on some all of our own - stay tuned 🤫
The month ahead is unique too. Gifting season is firmly finished, meaning brands will have to be truly innovative to garner attention without a holiday, sale, or major event to firmly lean on. It’s time to knuckle down and get to work on that project you’ve tucked away or been putting off for months. And if that’s something you need help with, you know exactly where to find us.
Chris & Team Cake
Bakery Chain, Konditor, were looking to give a boost to one of their most popular seasonal products with a purpose-built performance marketing campaign for their mince pies.
Taking the lead on content creation, performance advertising management, and dedicated landing page design, the Cake team delivered a campaign so successful that it had to be turned off.
We tend to be stringent when it comes to recommending apps. As eCommerce tools and plugins evolve, new features can make others pointless, potentially slowing down your site and leading to unnecessary subscription costs.
Despite this, there is still a list of Shopify Apps that we trust and actively recommend to our clients. From CRM systems to single issue solvers, it’s a no nonsense list for maximising your Shopify site’s value.

A mouthful yes, but an important one for all Shopify merchants.
As Shopify made changes to standardise its checkout across all stores, not only was the checkout affected, but the Thank You and Order Status pages were too. If you have any customisations in place in regards to tracking or automations, it’d be worth looking into updating to the new system.
Shopify unveiled that Plus Merchants only have until August to make the move before they retire the old system, (it’s August 2026 for non plus merchants) which could cause some major problems for your store.
If you have any questions feel free to get in touch.
Your website, your brand suite, and the marketing plan you’ve been working on suddenly feel very inconsequential when you encounter major supply chain issues. This is the issue Donald Trump’s second US Presidency has kicked off for brands around the world.
In fact, whether you import raw materials to the US for finishing, or ship finished products there, tariffs will drive up expenses. Brands will either need to absorb costs or adjust pricing to maintain margins.
The tariffs placed on Chinese goods have caused many brands with a manufacturing presence in China to turn to “Made in America” products as a competitive edge. That might not be possible for brands based elsewhere, but it’s certainly an issue we’re watching closely.

EXPLOREFor ecommerce brands, no customer base is more important than the core set of dedicated, repeat customers. Figuring out how to best serve these customers is, of course, a top priority for any D2C brand. Having grown significantly over their two decades of trading, alternative fashion retailer, Disturbia, were ready to improve their offering for their most loyal customers. Through the development of an ecommerce app, they would be able to give their customers the best possible version of the online shopping experience.
EXPLOREA website migration is, without fail, one of the most transformative moves an eCommerce business can make. Whilst your existing platform may have felt like the best choice at the time, eventually, the potential upside of making the move becomes too much to ignore. If you’re currently weighing up whether migrating to Shopify is the right choice for your business, read on. Here’s how the Cake Agency team helped Equiport make the move to Shopify Plus.
