SEO Boost Your Shopify Store

Why do ecommerce websites need an SEO Boost?

Whether you have a big or small ecommerce store doesn’t matter—you need SEO to maximize your site’s marketing and sales. Here are the reasons why:

1. SEO Helps Customers Find You

Let’s say, you want to buy sunglasses . I bet that one of the first things you do is Google  sunglasses.

For many ecommerce stores, organic search drives the most profit. It is the first and most crucial part of a customer’s decision-making process. In fact, 89% of consumers use search engines to determine their purchase decisions.

This means by focusing on SEO, you increase the chances of customers finding you. Think of it as the key to your success. If you’re on the first page on Google, then customers will immediately notice your business. They’ll click your site, discover your products and get onboard in the buying cycle. Otherwise, if your brand isn’t on the top of search engine results, then it’s practically nonexistent in the eyes of a consumer. Fewer customers can discover your brand online, and they’ll immediately flock to your competitors.

 2. SEO Is a Cost-Effective Marketing Strategy

Still not convinced that you need SEO? I guess you’re the type to rely on social media ads, traditional ads and paid traffic. These methods aren’t bad per se, but they do cost a lot more.

With social media ads and paid search traffic, you pay based on the number of clicks, and not conversions. In other words, you can be paying for thousands of clicks to your website, but only a handful of these clicks have resulted into sales. It sucks, right?

In contrast, SEO takes a lot of work. You have to optimize page titles, meta data, images, landing pages and blog posts. On a positive note, you can generate a ton of traffic. You won’t pay based on pointless clicks, so you spend your money more effectively.

Want to know how SEO has impacted a real ecommerce business? Magento is an online store with environmentally friendly products sold sanitizers, hand soaps and lotions. The company was established to a certain extent, but it wasn’t popular online. To solve this dilemma, the brand used SEO strategies to boost its online presence. It conducted keyword research, created content, added inbound and outbound links and focused on SEO optimization.

It didn’t gain success overnight. After a 12-month period, it increased its traffic by 273.51%. At the beginning of 2012, the site had 5609 visitors, but on 2013 this number grew to 20,950 visitors!

In summary, if you don’t adopt an SEO boost strategy for your business you’ll get left behind in sales and traffic and lose to your competitors. Improving your Shopify store’s SEO may be your key to succeeding in the online world.
