From joining Cake as a web developer in 2017, to now leading the entire team as our Head of Technical, it should come as no surprise that Tyrone has been a technical wonderchild since he was still in school.
Having clocked 10,000 hours, and then 10,000 hours more in Web development, Tyrone leads the charge on some of our clients most technically ambitious projects. Overseeing the rest of our developmental team, Tyrone is an adept problem solver who can get to the bottom of a client’s vision and bring it to life online.
Just as willing to get stuck in away from the keys, Tyrone will hand in the keyboard for the guitar, as both an avid guitarist and bass player. So, be it shredding tunes or shredding bespoke Shopify stores and apps, Tyrone is the rock-n-roll leader of our technical team.
Absolutely no competition, the custom shipping app we built as a part of Konditor’s migration from Magento to Shopify was the most complex build Cake have ever done - fitting that it would be for a brand that makes cakes themselves. I’m just glad that the brand loves their new site as much as they do.

I just love a migration project. Getting to work with other platforms and figure out how we can relay functionalities from them to Shopify is really interesting. In this case it was a custom built platform, which made it even more complicated and even more fun too.

A much needed website uplift *ba dum tss*
In all seriousness, the Lifting Equipment Store project was a project that was much needed for the brand to fully represent their level of service. Whilst this project was my bread and butter in a complex Shopify build, even I underestimated how complex of a project it would end up being. I’m super glad that myself and the other developers that worked on this project were able to bring the build to life as we imagined, and it’s great that the brand has a much simpler site to manage too.

I was super excited to get stuck into this one, as it was the first eCommerce app Cake had done, it being for, P&Co, a client we had a great relationship with, certainly helped too. Everyone involved agrees that we did a great job in overcoming the complexities of this project, and delivering some great results. It’s definitely a piece of work that I look back on fondly.

This was a fun challenge for the development team. As we needed to have an increased level of control over the code that went into the gift box functionality for Cyberjammies, we had to use Vanilla Javascript rather than any javascript framework, Which we tend to use to speed up how quick we can work. It was good to get back to basics, and deliver a great functionality for the brand.

I really enjoyed creating the custom Disturbia Shopify app. The functionalities we worked on allowed them to manage the content of the mobile app and send push notifications without leaving their Shopify admin area.
Me!… Can I leave it there?
Honestly though, I think everyone at Cake has a level of, not only knowledge, but care that they bring to clients and each other, that really elevates everything we do. And that’s something I do my best to embody too… some might even say I do it pretty well.
Discovering new programming languages, musical instruments, and handheld game consoles.
Every great relationship starts with a conversation. We’d love to talk with you about your next project and answer any questions you might have about Shopify. But be warned… once we get talking about this stuff, it’s hard to shut us up!
