With previous experience in content writing and B2B PR, it might be a surprise that Gourav prides himself most on his skills with numbers. Having graduated from the oft-travelled Birmingham City University Digital marketing course, Gourav brings a keen eye for budgets and mathematics to his paid ads and SEO heavy day-to-day.
Having grown up in Verona, Italy, Gourav fluently speaks three languages in English, Italian and Punjabi - and a fourth if we count his algebra skills too. A keen Inter Milan fan, pizza maker and performance marketer, Gourav is one of the main players keeping our performance marketing team one of the agency’s strongest.
The LES project was the first website project I worked on after I joined Cake. This was such a great project to work on, as despite it not being your everyday brand, I was able to learn a lot of new Shopify skills that helped on the navigation side of the website. It’s also very exciting to see Lifting Equipment Store get the website that they deserve.

It’s got to be the combination of the work environment and the team. The environment in the office is always so calm and relaxed, which makes getting stuck into my work really easy. Also, the team is just full of people who really enjoy their work and are always free to support each other.
It’s a really geeky answer but it’s got to be numbers and figures. I loved algebra back in school, so any occasion for me to look at numbers and formulas always excites me.
Definitely having the hands on experience of direct account management and just having previous agency experience. Both make the move to a new role much less daunting because you’re not dropped into the deep end with no knowledge. I also know to brace myself, as things can get chaotic at any minute.
I’m just a very ambitious person. I’ve always strived to be the best at what I do and, when I reach that point, I’m instantly looking for new skills to learn and master. I'm one of those people who don’t really see the point in doing something just for the sake of doing it, I always want to do it well too.
