Petrolhead, filmbuff, and nature lover, our head of design, Chris, is our resident creative pioneer. With a multi-disciplined creative background that spans across a wide range of industries, Chris is able to adapt his skillset to whatever challenge a client may be facing.
Heading up creative direction, branding, ux and ui design, Chris acts as the guide for both internal and client side creative endeavours. Chris’ creative career spans over 15 years and his portfolio includes some of our flagship projects over the past few years, including P&Co’s mobile app, and working on athletic supplement provider Verve.
Having worked on hundreds of different projects across his in-house, freelance and agency-side experience, Chris describes himself as a curious creative who takes a systematic and precise approach.
We really delivered everything AND the kitchen sink for Verve. Coming to us with little more than a great product and a vision for a great brand, the reins were handed over to us to deliver some of our best work to date. Brand name, colours, website design - You name it, we did it, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the finished product.

Breathing a new sense of life into a brand is always a fun experience to be a part of - those before and afters are just a joy to look at. For Harrington Woodfuel Co, this brand reinvention was incredibly rewarding. A bit of a different foray than what we’re used to, but proof that our eCommerce skills really can take any form

Aran Woollen Mills came to us with no experience in eCommerce, despite being a successful B2B seller. So not only did they need substantial input from a marketing and development perspective, but a way to showcase the feeling and identify of their brand when the product could not yet be felt in the hands of potential customers. Seeing where their brand is testament to the great work the entire team put in, and I was especially glad to be a part of such an ambitious project, and to work with such a cool brand too.

Working within the confines of an existing brand presents a unique challenge and it can actually be much more fun than when you have entirely free reign. The entire team would agree that we went above and beyond in both the design and development of the &Sons website, and I think that the results are a great example of what Cake can do when the gloves are off and we can work with the freedom that Shopify Plus gives us.

There’ll be very few designers who disagree with me here, full scale branding projects are what we live for. The chains are off, and we’re allowed to really let those creative juices flow. Onaro as a luxury brand obviously wanted something quite refined, and the whole team just smashed it out the park.

A strong coffee, a good playlist, and the right space - a great luxury of working at Cake is the flexibility of the office space and the hybrid working, meaning you can create the environment that works best for you on that day.
Seeing results from the work that I do, and then the direct effect it has on the client, makes all of the hard work worthwhile.
You see the state of the client start when they originally come to us, when they may have been disenchanted by previous agencies, compared to 12 months later and hopefully we’ve changed that stigma in their minds - seeing them place that trust in us and become happier over time is the greatest reward of all.
A lot of agencies say that they’re different, but Cake truly is. The whole team helps steer the business and aren’t just cogs in the machine either. The transparency internally is also reflected in the relationships with our clients too, nurturing valuable bonds with our clients to help us be honest and authentic within any given conversation. This ‘real talk’ is always appreciated by our clients and it allows us to work more collaboratively, without any politics getting in the way.
Every great relationship starts with a conversation. We’d love to talk with you about your next project and answer any questions you might have about Shopify. But be warned… once we get talking about this stuff, it’s hard to shut us up!
